Between Piers 54 and 70 - along San Francisco's waterfront - is a no-man's land of forgotten piers and pilings. A monument to a once bustling maritime economy - gone to rot. There is a romantic kind of solitude here. Palpable are the ghosts of ships and wagons and warehouses - now gone.
This scene is not long for our world. A new economy rises here. Gleaming high rise buildings are being occupied. The roads along this stretch are being re-configured and defined. The old gives way to a vibrant newness. I will miss walking here. Meanwhile - I believe model Kat and I made good use of this place. Enjoy.
