27 February 2009
I was looking forward to viewing - and hopefully photographing this lovely moon-set.
There wasn't a cloud in the sky at noon. The next storm wasn't supposed to begin moving in for another
day. But by 3 o'clock - the sky was pretty much overcast. I checked again around sunset and it was still quite cloudy and I didn't think viewing this event
would have much of a chance. Yet shortly after 7 PM - I decided to call up the satellite radar
view of the local cloud cover on my computer - and a good sized round break in the overcast was approaching the Golden Gate.
I decided to to give this effort a try - and this image was the result. Shortly after I got this - and moved to what I thought was a better spot -
Venus disappeared - not to be seen again this night. A short time later - the moon began
to reveal the very thick clouds over the ocean - and within a minute - it was gone.
