Built by the Works Project Administration under President Roosevelt in the early 1930's - this was one of the amazing pieces of engineering built across the United States in that period. Here was a part of Highway 101 - the principal road of coastal California. This viaduct held heavy traffic loads for more than five decades - including massive trucks carrying felled redwood trees and cut lumber to mills throughout the region.
