Conclusion (but not finished)

So is this lens worth buying? Especially when I have the Canon 85 f1.2? The answer is YES!

STF vs the 85L

The STF is a very special lens for special needs. Even though the Canon 85L is also a cream machine but the tone and results are rather different.

The Canon is obviously a lot heavier but more convenient with AF. The super fast f1.2 means more available light shots without a monopod/tripod needed.

The STF is a slower lens, but luckily Sony provides in-body IS for their bodies. The almost equally shallow DOF means a more careful focusing job is needed. Live view focus check is useful but a tripod is recommended. This seems to be the reason why a lot of the STF users uses this lens for floral types of shots. The bokeh can be easily showed off with the natural busy backgrounds.

I see this lens can be used in outdoor fashion or portrait shots as well.
