Garden Façade
On its exterior, the grandstand has a height of 5.5 m , including the upper terrace. In its central part, the water fountain sits atop an attached semicircular base, covered with carnation tiles. The wooden latticework screens that close the openings of the grandstand measure 2 × 2 m . Of oriental inspiration, they are reminiscent of a type of Japanese shutter called shitomido . Gaudí may have seen this system at an exhibition of Japanese architecture held in Barcelona in 1881. The terrace above the grandstand features wooden benches with metal railings and planters at the corners, decorated with tiles that alternate flowers and sunflower leaves, similar to those used in El Capricho de Comillas.
