The rooftop
The rooftop has a surface area of 150 m˛ , of which 85 m˛ correspond to the original house designed by Gaudí and the rest to Serra's extension. The two projects also differ in their roofs: the original rooftop features four sloping planes built on the wooden beams of the attic ceiling, covered by rows of Arabic tiles, with a walkway of terracotta tiles providing access to the corner pavilion and the chimneys; the area built by Serra features a flat terrace, with steps leading to the other pavilion at the opposite corner. These pavilions—Serra's is an exact copy of Gaudí's original—are covered in tiles, combining carnation tiles with green and white checkered patterns, and topped with a bronze flame. The chimneys are made of brick, also covered in tiles. At the entrance to this space is the old entrance gate from Carolinas Street, when the main access was from the southeast side, removed during the 1925 renovation. It features floral motifs with circular stems.
