The White Lake on the Bernina Pass is one of the largest in the entire Engadin (3 km long and 21 million cubic meters of water), and has been artificially expanded for hydroelectric exploitation. The tour starts from the train station of Ospizio Bernina. From the station you walk south along the dirt road that runs along the lake to the dam. Immersed in a high-altitude landscape, the view is truly spectacular. Up to the dam you travel just over 2.5 km; from here you leave the road that descends in the direction of Alp Grüm to pass on the other side of the lake, along an easy path that in the opposite direction leads to Plan Cambrena. After a few steps you reach the north dam. Skirting it, the loop will quickly close returning to the station. The entire perimeter of the lake is about. 8 km.
