The village, with its approximately 500 inhabitants, is characterized by its rural presence, its secondary school, its tourist attractions, abundant sunshine, and breathtaking views of the Lower Engadin Dolomites and the only castle for miles around. Ftan lies more than 400 meters higher than the Inn River and seems to hover a bit above everything.
The legendary Val Tasna, the Alp Laret, which offers catering, and the nearby peaks of Piz Minschuns and Piz Clünas are exemplary excursion destinations in the immediate vicinity.
