The Torre de los Alarconcillos is one of the monuments that most manages to surprise each and every one of the visitors who come to Alarcón, located in the province of Cuenca. This building stands on one of the hills, in one of the many bends that the Júcar River makes in this area. Its mission was to hinder sieges of the Alarcón Castle. To know the history of this Tower, we must know the origins of Alarcón. The truth is that there are vestiges of both Iberian and Roman settlements, although the current name has Arabic origins. We go back to the year 780, where Mohamed Al-Feheri, a Muslim prince, decided to take refuge. Something similar happened with Abderramán.After the conquest of Cuenca that took place in the year 1177, King Alfonso VIII decided to direct his troops to Alarcón. Years later, specifically in 1184, the troops led by Martín de Ceballos managed to enter the city. And all this after, as it is said, Martín de Ceballos climbed the wall using nothing more and nothing less than two Biscayan daggers.
