The Naamsestraat connects the city center and the Grote Markt with the Naamsepoort on the city ring in the south.The approximately 1 kilometer long street first rises to the Hogenheuvelcollege and the Van Dalecollege and then descends back to the city ring . The street has a large number of colleges from or connected to the Catholic University of Leuven . Past the Sint-Annacollege and the Heilige Geestcollege , almost at the highest point of the street, is the baroque Sint-Michielskerk , followed by Koningscollege , College van Premonstreit , Atrechtcollege and Hogenheuvelcollege . The Van Dale College is located across the street . Further out of the city, the STUK arts center in the former Arenberg Institute , the former Viglius College , the American College , the Heilig Hartziekenhuis, the Chapel of Jesus in 't Steentje and the Sint-Kwintenskerk follow .The Naamsestraat is one of the oldest streets in Leuven. In the 17th century, this part was referred to as the Heverschestraat, to indicate that this was the connection to Heverlee
