Königstraße got its name in 1810 after the "Bajuwarisation" of Nuremberg, in honor of the first Bavarian king, Max I Joseph. Previously, parts of the road were named after geographic conditions. "At the women's gate", "at the bell chair" or "at the big scale" were the names. Since relatively "simple" people lived in this street, this was also reflected in the former buildings. Modest, mostly low residential, commercial and inn buildings as well as hostels were dominant.There is a hint with the fence post in "Nuremberg, as it is not, but should be. Well-meaning hints for its future" from 1844. On the occasion of the opening of the Nuremberg-Bamberg railway line, it says: "Nuremberg will become the center of Germany and Europe see a number of strangers streaming in, which far exceeds the previous one.
