Nürnberg. IHK Nürnberg für Mittelfranken

Headquarters of the Nuremberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Middle Franconia. With the new market regulations of 1560, commercial self-government was born in Nuremberg. The "Commercial Board" met here as the forerunner of the IHK, which was formally founded in 1843. After being destroyed in the bombing raids of the Second World War and being the first building to be rebuilt on the main market, the "Haus der Wirtschaft" was completely renovated from 2014 to 2019 and mostly rebuilt. In the early years, its role is limited to advising the government on ways to facilitate trade. But as early as 1868, with the introduction of general freedom of trade and industry in Bavaria, the powers of the chambers were also expanded: they were granted hearing, appeal and initiative rights as well as the right to elect honorary representatives directly.
