Information taken from its web site:
In 898 Count Adalbert von Babenberg and his brothers owned the castle and mills. In 906 the empire confiscated the property of the Babenbergs and in 975 left the castle and possessions to the Bavarian duke Heinrich the Zänker. His son and heir, Emperor Henry II, presented both to his wife Kunigunde von Luxemburg as a morning gift. In 1007, when the marriage remained childless, the entire royal estate was donated to the newly founded diocese of Bamberg; at the same time the brother mill also came under the feudal rule of the cathedral chapter. This ownership relationship has persisted through the centuries. For example, in 1406 the valid amount was 76 sacks of ground wheat.Due to the neighborhood with the Barfusser brothers or Franciscan monastery, the names "Mill at the Barefoots", "Mill at the brothers" and "Untere Brudermühle" became common.Over the centuries, many millers managed the brother mill and repeatedly fought for the water and fish rights. Four times the mill burned down to the ground.Today's building was erected after the fire in 1762 and has since been adorned with a magnificent house madonna - presumably from the workshop of the sculptor Leonhard Gollwitzer. The brother mill was operated as a flour mill until the middle of the 19th century.
