The art museum of the state capital
The former electoral Mainz packing and weighing yard from the early 18th century with its richly decorated facade is one of the most beautiful buildings in Erfurt's old town.More than a hundred years ago, in 1886, a picture gallery was opened here due to the donation of Friedrich Nerly's artistic estate by his son to the city of Erfurt, but within a short time a culturally and historically diverse collection structure developed, which later, through distribution to other buildings, supported the structure of the City Museum, the Thuringian Folklore Museum and the Natural History Museum. The baroque city palace now houses the art museum of the state capital Erfurt.
