Barockhäuser Würzburg
The baroque houses are several listed buildings in Würzburg's Neubaustraße No. 6-12. The building complex at Neubaustrasse No. 12 (consisting of the former house numbers 10, 12 and 14) is colloquially referred to as Greisinghäuser .The Neubaustraße was created in the Middle Ages by abandoning the southern city fortifications , when the ever-expanding district around St. Peter and Paul , the Sanderviertel , was incorporated into the city with a new wall . The ditch of the old ring encircling the city in the pentagon was filled in here, creating a large, straight and wide street, which was quite unusual for that time. How little people knew what to do with this situation is shown by the old buildings, which did not follow a common alignment until the 17th century. In the middle of the 18th century , under the supervision of Balthasar Neumann , a magnificent front of five impressive buildings was built.
