Plaça dels Bous
This square is located right where the walled town ends. In this square, at the place where Carrer Major begins, was the Portal de Girona. Between the 17th and 18th centuries, two new streets emerged outside the walled enclosure: the Raval and the Ravalet, so that between Raval and El Major streets this square appeared which, to be in the middle of the town, became an important point. of reference.
The name is given to it by the cattle fairs that were held there. However, the name of the square has changed. Until September 9, 1928, the names of Plaça dels Bous and Plaça del Bestiar alternated, as from that date it became Plaza del General Primo de Rivera. With the Second Republic in 1931, the square took the names of Prat de la Riba and later Plaça Pi i Margall, a name it would retain until 1939. In the 1940s it was called Plaza de la miranda del Tordera. In 1969 the name of Plaça dels Bous or del Bestia was recovered
