From time immemorial, the Iberians already inhabited the mountains of Amer, but it was not until 840 that we know the village as a nucleus. In the early days the town had a strong growth, appearing in the twelfth century the first data of its weekly market. And from here many have been the adventures and calamities that have brought us to the present times.On November 9, 949, Bishop Gotmar of Girona consecrated the church of a new monastery in the presence of the counts of Barcelona Borell i Miró. The first nucleus of the town of Amer was soon formed around this monastery.
