Castell Park was created around the tower, popularly called the torreta, a defensive construction linked to the Castle of Palafolls (documented from 1382) and a symbol of the local heritage. Going by its size, it was probably part of a larger construction. From the park, you can enjoy a good view of the castles of Palafolls and Sant Joan de Blanes, which suggests that the torreta was part of a medieval defensive ensemble in the area.During the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) a coastal battery and a machine gun nest were placed there, and some shelters were built. Nowadays, you can only see the half-buried doorway of one; the rest remain buried just like the mid wall. The historical function of watchtower is still kept today with just one goal: enjoying the view of Malgrat de Mar and exploring the region.
