The cathedral's façade will take your breath away, a masterpiece of design and sculpture by Giovanni Pisano, with a beautiful rose window and Venetian mosaics adding to the already colorful effect of green, red, and white marble inlay, which covers the building and its striking campanile. It is one of the finest achievements of Italian Gothic. Referring to Pisano's sculptures on the façade, the contemporary sculptor Henry Moore called him "the first modern sculptor."
