Iglesia de Santa Teresa

n 1628 the Monastery of Santa Teresa hand of Tejeda, prestigious family lineage was fouded. Don Juan de Tejeda was the father of the first poet of Rio de La Plata: Luis de Tejeda.
Don Tejeda turned his house into a convent in Santa Teresa gratitude for the recovery of one of his daughters after a serious illness.For the sector dedicated to closing most of the family home it was enabled. The first nuns to use the residence was Tejeda's widow, Dona Ana Maria de Guzman and his daughters.The definitive church was built between 1753 and 1758. The design and construction were led by the poet Fray José Tejeda and Guzmán.The church of Santa Teresa is one of the finest examples of colonial architecture in Cordoba. In a single nave with three choirs, a beautiful baroque carving of Santa Teresa, brought from Spain in the late eighteenth century stands.The facade is of American Indian lines and shows an interesting side belfry with high tower and walled access, confirming the design of the Jesuit Andrea Bianchi.
