Tudes is a small village in the beautiful Cereceda valley, the least developed of the four valleys in Liebana. It is a quiet, sunny village, off the beaten track, a cluster of houses built in the traditional style of the area. At 2,000 feet, it offers magnificent views of the Picos mountains. Yet it is only ten minutes from Potes, the bustling market town that is the centre of Liebana life, with its restaurants, bars and shops.Tudes is also a living village. Its thirty-odd inhabitants still live mainly off the land, and can be seen each day herding their cows, sheep and goats through the village.Tudes won the competition: Cantabria Village of the Year 2010. The judges described it as “a quintessential mountain village with its customs and traditional architecture well preserved, all within a magnificent natural setting.”
