Pontresina.Val Roseg

Much loved by hikers and cyclists in the summer and by walkers, cross-country skiers and snowshoers in the winter, idyllic Roseg Valley offers peace and tranquility and the opportunity to top up energy levels while admiring the imposing mountain backdrop with the Roseg glacier in the foreground.A beautiful hiking trail leads down from the right side of Pontresina into the valley. Anyone wanting to take it slightly easier can book a horse carriage ride in the omnibus or a private vehicle and enjoy the untouched landscape during the one-hour drive to ‘Hotel Restaurant Roseg Gletscher’. The unsurfaced road leads past willows, Acla Colani and Ova da Roseg, and through fragrant Swiss stone pine and larch woods. Roseg Valley is particularly beautiful in autumn, when the larch trees turn golden-yellow.Roseg Valley also serves as a starting point for mountain tours to SAC huts Tschierva and Coaz, up to the Bernina Massif and the Sella group, as well as to Fuorlcla Surlej and towards Corvatsch. The trained eye can see numerous chamois colonies on the mountain slopes. Red deer can be seen every day at the Roseg Gletscher mountain restaurant.

A delightful alpine pastoral scene. I can almost smell that pine timber.
