The Poschiavo Valley
The natural and cultural landscape streches over 25 kilometers from the ice giants of the Bernina chain, to the glacier mills in Cavaglia, to the chestnut trees in Brusio, and on to the vineyards of the Valtellina. The valley is woven in a variety of lakes, side valleys and pretty villages with interesting cultural monuments, churches and palaces. Mountain pastures and villages complement the settlement diversity.Here the Swiss and the Italian food cultures and mentalities meet harmoniously.The flora and fauna is rich in species, from alpine to sub-Mediterranean. From larch and pine to chestnut and grapes, from eagles to deer.The Poschiavo valley is populated by villages, mountain pastures and fallows, with the river Poschiavino flowing through the valley and into the lake of Poschiavo. There is also a variety of beautiful mountain lakes, from the Lago Bianco to the Lago Saoseo, with incomparable views.
