Dresden. Zwinger. Kronentor

Crown Gate
Probably the best known feature of the Zwinger is the Kronentor or Crown Gate, an impressive Baroque gate in the Langgalerie, on the southeast side of the Zwinger. The gate is topped by a large crown decorated with gilded motifs. The statues in the gate's niches represent the four seasons. In terms of architecture, it adopts the style of Italian high baroque. At its top, four Polish eagles carry the replica of the Polish royal crown. They remind us of Augustus the Strong having not only been Saxon Elector but also King of Poland.
