The fantasy and color of Güell Palace´s roof terrace stands out against the grey and humble roof tos of the Raval neighbourhood and contrasts with the chromatic austerity of the rest of the building´s exteriors. Gaudí started from the traditional Mediterranean concept of the flat roof in order to thermally insulate the palace, a function that the terrace carried out in conjunction with the attic, the floor of transition between the exterior exposed to significant changes of temperature and humidity, and inhabited floors of the building.
