Between the two entrance doors, a phoenix in aggressive stance uses various wrought iron techniques, making it the palace´s most valuable piece of wrought iron work. The mytical bird is interpreted as an allegory of Catalonia´s econominal and cultural rebirth. The semi-column that supports the helmet incorporates the four stripes found on the Catalan flag. The work uses flat sheets and metallic mesh based on the modernist curved whip technique.
