The town of Nogales was incorporated into the dominion of show in 1395, after its purchase by Gómez Suárez de Figueroa, First Lord of Feria. A mid-fifteenth century began the repopulation of the town, also beginning the construction of the castle to protect their inhabitants.
Over the door of the keep are a shield of the Figueroa family and one from the Manuel family, and an inscription stating that the fort was built by order of Lorenzo Suárez de Figueroa, son of Gomez Suarez de Figueroa, in 1458. Over the door of the walled enclosure are two shields, one-Manuel Figueroa and another of Osorio and Rojas family. These shields were placed in 1464 by Gómez Suárez de Figueroa, son of Lorenzo Suárez de Figueroa. The military use of the building is maintained over time, I feel used maintained during clashes with French and Portuguese. Although it has not come to be in a state of ruin, the passage of time and neglect the building deteriorated until the Extremadura decided to restore the late twentieth century.
