Cingles de Tavertet

The cliffs (cingles) below L’Avenc are some of the highest and most spectacular and form a natural barrier for protection to the South and East that was probably why L’Avenc guest house was originally built here. The resulting area is a balance of natural beauty and culture which captivates the visitor from day one. Whether you walk, cycle, or just sit and watch the changing scenery and breathe in the history, you will love it. These cliffs are well-known as a worldwide geological feature. Cliffs, caves and overhanging rocks that were used as primitive dwellings (balmes) are intersected with steams and waterfalls that make up this unique landscape. The Forat del Vent cave, which is 3,216 metres long, is one of the longest open caves made of sandstone.
