The cliffs (cingles) below L’Avenc are some of the highest and most spectacular and form a natural barrier for protection to the South and East that was probably why L’Avenc guest house was originally built here. Cliffs, caves and overhanging rocks that were used as primitive dwellings (balmes) are intersected with steams and waterfalls that make up this unique landscape. The Forat del Vent cave, which is 3,216 metres long, is one of the longest open caves made of sandstone.
