Logroño. Plaza del Alférez Provisional

Important dates during the 15th and 16th centuries are: in 1431, King John II of Castile gave Logroño the title of city and in 1444 the titles of “very noble” and “very loyal”. In 1521, the people of Logroño lived through one of the epic episodes ever remembered: the opposition to the French troops.
As time went by, Logroño was growing and its population increasing. Churches, buildings, squares, avenues, shops… were built. It became a reference city for the region. Since 1982 Logroño was established as the capital of La Rioja autonomous region, the smallest of the 17 Spanish regions. However, it is considered one of the first places regarding per capita incomes. This is thanks to its agricultural and industrial wealth.
