Always in favour of giving meaning to the decoration of his projects, Gaudí included numerous symbolisms of secular character in them, related to the place of construction, the developer´s identity, local history or (according to the case) to emblems of Catholicism. The walls and constructions details of the Teresian College are specially dense in this sense, because of the influence of the works of Santa Teresa in the architect, who undoubtedly admired the image of the great italian Renaissance artist Gian Lorenzo Bernini carved for the church of Santa Maria de la Victoria in Rome.
