The Upper Engadine Lake District is one of Switzerland’s most impressive landscapes. The quaint villages of Graubünden, charming spruce forests and panoramic mountain slopes make this region a first-class hiking destination. The tour around Lake Sils shows the impressive variety and attractiveness of this region. The loop around Lake Sils leads from Sils-Maria onward first in the direction of Sils. After 100 meters the route branches off to Segl-Baselgia. A wonderful mountain trail begins that ends only in Maloja Village. At Grevasalvas and on Plan dil Zoch fantastic views reveal the deep blue lake. The village of Maloja is only touched at the rim; from the valley basin the trail leads directly to the lake, then a beautiful path meanders alongside the lakeshore to Sils-Maria. Half way back is the village of Isola, which appears isolated. It was built on the gravel cone of a mountain brook.
