Uitbreiding en eigen productie

Dat eerste winkeltje stond in Oostzaan, een dorpje in de Zaanstreek. Een replica van die winkel staat nu nog in het openluchtmuseum De Zaanse Schans. Acht jaar nadat hij de nering van zijn vader overnam, opende een enthousiaste Albert Heijn zijn eerste filiaal in Purmerend. Hij begon ondertussen ook met eigen productie. Vanaf 1895 werden in de keuken van een herenhuis in Zaandam eigen koekjes gebakken. Achter de winkel in Oostzaan brandde hij zijn eigen koffie. Leuk is dat we tot op de dag van vandaag onze eigen koffie maken. Je weet wel: Perla.
