Castle in Zhovkva was built in 1594-1606 by getman Stanislaw Zholkiewsky and belonged at first to Zholkiewski's family and then to the families of Danilovich, Sobieski and Radzivill.
Since 19th century has been used for administration offices.
At the beginning of the XVII century it had three storey corner towers, an entrance gateway and fighting galleries with loopholes along the walled perimeter.
Unfortunately luxurious halls, a treasury and an armoury can not be restored but the facade of the former outpost has been restored in 2003.
