The south entrance is carved in Bitonto stone, decorated with two columns with capitals and triangular frontispiece of the Doric order.
The image of Madonna and Child is carved in bas-relief in the triangle.
In the center there is the statue of the Risen Jesus and two statues on both sides - St. Peter on the right and St. Paul on the left.

One of the most important monuments of Gravina is the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta – built by the Normans in 11th-12th centuries.
Destroyed by fires and earthquakes in the mid-15th century, it was refurbished in Renessaince - Romanesque style.
It houses a splendid reliquary of an arm of the English saint Thomas Becket (1119-1170).
In August 1993 Pope John Paul II granted Gravina Cathedral the status of a minor basilica.
