One of the most important monuments of Gravina is the Cathedral – built by the Normans in 11th-12th centuries.
Destroyed by fires and earthquakes in the mid-15th century, it was refurbished in Renessaince - Romanesque style.
It houses a splendid reliquary of an arm of the English saint Thomas Becket (1119-1170).
In August 1993 Pope John Paul II granted Gravina Cathedral the status of a minor basilica.
