Cork Oak trees (Quercus suber) are found in the rocky landscapes near the town of Aggius.
The region is known for its cork production, with the cork oak being a significant local resource harvested for its bark.
The region is known as the Gallura cork region.
When the tree reaches 25 years old, its thick bark can be harvested for cork every 9 to 12 years without causing harm to the tree.
