Castle In Chudow

Chudow, Poland

The 16th century Renaissance castle residence was built by a local nobleman John Saszowski von Geraltowitz.
The castle suffered severe fire damage in 1875 and was abandoned after it.
It's been under the restoration and reconstruction process since 1995.
In the tower, there is a small museum with a very nice exhibition of medieval ceramics, discovered on the castle grounds during restoration works and archeological excavations.

That's a nice piece of photographic distraction. With the tower framed between the trees, the eye goes straight there, making it look in good condition. So when I was reading the description about the fire, I thought "How bad could it have been?"... until my eyes wandered to either side to see the empty and partially destroyed shells of the rest of the building. It'll be interesting to see what it looks like when or if they ever get around to finishing it.
