Archeological Museum

Gdansk, Poland

The main building of the Archaeological Museum is one of the largest and the most representative tenement houses in Gdansk, also known as the Naturalists House.
It owes its name to the fact that from 1846 it was the seat of the Gdańsk Naturalist Society.
The interior was adorned with portraits of scientists, such as Nicolaus Copernicus, Mathias Nathanael Wolff, Daniel Gralath and a bust of Johannes Hevelius.

The tenement house was probably erected between 1597 and 1599.
A characteristic feature of the building is its 30-metre facade and a narrow 36-metre turret with a staircase.
The turret is crowned with a beautiful, majestic helmet.

Love that building! Your perspective shows it beautifully. I wonder why it is also called the Naturalists house. V
