Pygmalion was a sculptor who carved a woman out of ivory. His statue was so beautiful and realistic that he fell in love with it.
He asked Aphrodite to turn his sculpture into a real woman and she did put a breath of life in a statue.
Pygmalion named her Galatea and married her.
