After the last waterpoint, the hike is on almost flat land, across semi-desert and leads uphill onto the "Saddle" on the right.
It is the barren plain of alpine zone located between the two main peaks of Kilimanjaro: Mawenzi and Kibo.
Among the lava rocks, along the trail, one can see only some hardy grasses and occasionally those straw-like everlasting flowers.
