The IronPigs won 9-8 in 16 innings. Rochester is the AAA farm team for the Minnesota Twins. Lehigh Valley (Allentown, PA) is the AAA farm team for the Philadelphia Phillies. AAA teams are one step below the majors. Players usually need to be successful at the AAA level (some are called up sooner) before being called up to play in Major League Baseball.
Reminds me of my youth when my hometown Oakland Oaks played against the San Francisco Seals, the Los Angeles Angels, the Seattle Rainiers, the Hollywood Stars, the Portland Beavers, the Sacramento Bees and the San Diego Padres of the old Pacific Coast League. I think I was in the sixth grade when the Oaks moved to Vancouver. My heart was broken. Two years later the major leagues began arriving on the West Coast and my hometown currently has the top team in baseball. Thanks for helping me reminisce.
