Lake Ontario near Rochester, NY

The old Crescent Beach Hotel. I ate there in high school and it was a big deal eating in the back room overlooking the lake (seen here boarded up). It has been closed now for years and is quite sad.

Yes, this must be gloomy when contrasted with your memories.

You still have good memories about the place, that's important.

Old and worn looking but the lighting adds real beauty here. V

On a nice day I imagine that the view would be great. Even on a dull day like this, with the right food and panoramic windows, it would have a heap of atmosphere. Apparently it was still up for sale as recently as last year yet the photos for the sale notice looked, shall we say... more presentable than this reality.

excellent shot to show that seemingly ideal location...assume that was a pier in the water and it looks in a sorry state too...your area suffers in many ways..

A sad scene, especially given what a premier lakeside location it enjoyed. Nicely composed capture of it. V.
