This is amazing, Julie. Durkheim's Anomie. One of your most compelling images and I can't say enough about it. Captures the isolation and hopelessness of the down and out and hits the viewer on a very strong emotional level. Vote. Vote. Vote.

The big concrete slabs make the man look smaller and lonelier. A well crafted image. V

15 minutess of fame. The guy makes it. Well done.

A haunting and moody image conveying the feeling of isolation and starkness in this concrete world you have captured. The many diagonals add power to this beautifully composed image. Your image has an outstanding range of values in this masterful photograph. This is what I would call a home run in photography. VVV+++

Very intriguing capture. What is he doing, what is he thinking and what are his plans all things going through the brain. Fantastic work!

Wonderful, that one line pointing to the man. V

I like the abundance of lines in all directions, interrupted only by the man, who seems to be waiting for nothing. Intriguing and well captured, Julie. V.

Very interesting. The man seems so incongruous, out of place yet an integral part of the picture. V

potent and pulsating...the sense of defeat is strong here..

You get an A+ for this one. The starkness of the colour of the concrete combined with the harshness of the lines, the scale of the man against the environment really adding to the sense of isolation, and the fact the he's so passive and has what looks like the thousand yard stare all work together to make this an exceptional example of urban isolation and separation. (Not despair, though; there's nothing particularly sad about the figure. He just seems more separated than even necessarily lonely or sad.)

A great candid image, Julie!
