Inside the former Sykes Datatronics building on Orchard St. in Rochester, NY. The company made communication equipment and employed about 630 people. It folded in the early 1990's. The building has sat abandoned since that time and is in the process of being demolished.

It makes me so annoyed that businesses are screwed up like this, usually by senior management who can't see beyond their quarterly bonuses. Thinking of all the wealth that was once generated here, all the livelihoods, all the people who paid for homes and cars and education for their kids and it's all reduced to THIS... something is terribly, terribly wrong.
Still, I'm glad you captured this before it went forever.

Great capture of the interior of this abandoned building. Wonderful POV and love the muted colors. V

Another fascinating story from the Rust Belt. Interesting that a Communications company would fail, since most of the time that is a growing industry. The empty buildings and decay seem unreal and even creepy. V

I wonder if the employees ever imagined their building would come to this. V

It must have been a very impressive building. Those concrete supports are quite big.

So sad to see where industry once thrived and people made a living from it. Excellent capture with a mood befitting the situation. V.
