Ariel reconnaissance films of Russia were processed here for the Cold War into the 1990's at the Kodak Hawkeye Plant in Rochester, NY. The building is empty today.

Kodak (EK) really missed the boat by not being an early adopter of digital image sensors. They had so much cash, that they easily could have invested themselves into this innovation. i'm sure that they have become a case study in business school around the world. "too big to adapt"...

Well done, but sad picture of a former glorious company (V)

The cracked pavement, dormant shrub, aged brickwork all add to the deserted look/feel of this place. V

I don't miss the cold war but it is sad to see a facility that was once so vital crumbling slowly in neglect.

Superb image. Wonderfully composed and suitably forlorn. ~V~

Still hard to believe that such a giant could go down.

It's just so sad to see the demise of a giant like Eastman Kodak, and you have documented it quite well. V.

It's so sad to lose this part of our history. While I love digital for many practical reasons, I do miss my film past and that legacy from my Dad who was a hobby photographer too.

You didn't mention that all those fancy spy cameras were built here, too...

A real shame and so needless. Strong documentary work Julie. "V"

What a pity! Kodak did much for photography!
