Been away on a business trip (sorry for not posting any comments) - on the way back from the airport I came across this unfortunate situation.
A large stack of big bales of newly harvested straw was ablaze.
The fire officer on duty said they could only stand-by and prevent further spread. They would not apply water to the fire.
To do so would prolong the core of the fire for up to 2 weeks, whereas untouched it should burn out in a day or so.
(Note - the blur effect is purely from the heat of the fire not PS)
