A large flock of Canada Geese were taking it in turns to enter the river in smaller groups.
Once in the water they would appear to be absolutely still in the flowing current, and then on some signal I couldn't sense, they would paddle down the river keeping their distance from the groups before and after them. Today's alternative shot is the moment just before they turned downstream.
I liked this shot because I was trying to take a water-level shot of them drifting by but without getting my camera wet. Inevitably the horizon wasn't level. But I quite like the effect of the geese appearing to swim uphill!
