"The Power of Uncertainty" [ceramic, deer bone, steel, 2013]
Quoted from the museum: The red oni, a demon in Japanese folklore, represents someone who has lived a selfish, gluttonous life. However, Chiarello depicts him as having "awoken within". The "once wretched demon now realizes the sustaining power of selfless compassion" and accepts the impermanence of life. The octopus, helpless out of water, embodies in innocence.
