I think you did pretty well, John, especially for a hand-held shot. Vern refers to the "sunny 16" rule - there's also a "moony 11" rule, too, f11 and shutter speed 1/ISO.

Hi John, remember that it is always a sunny day on the moon. So you can use the 'sunny day' formula and set your exposure manually. Perhaps one stop less exposure would have been right on.

John, over all looks pretty good, but I suspect that the reason that you were having issues with editing this image is because it is a bit over exposed... try to drop the exposure and then try to edit it and see if it goes better. Good luck.
