On a rocky promontory overlooking Cook Strait this lighthouse stands sentinel at the bottom of the North Island. Those clouds on the horizon mark the passage of a good southerly storm working it's way up the South Island and arriving here a few hours later. A long stairway leads up to this lighthouse......as good as heaven when I finally got to the top. I counted the number of steps but the number was too huge for my pea sized grey matter to assimilate and I quickly let it slip. I had to be careful I didn't while taking photos here. Mountaineering is not one of my strong points. Falling is.
